Iwai - Japanese Lacquer Brush Mark Vermillion - Compote

SKU: TSSK05544 W210 D210 H70
Sale price€240EUR

It is a lacquerware plate with a foot that has been used for a long time. In Japan, the shape is reminiscent of a ritual vessel, but in the West, it is also the style of a compote plate for serving fruits. Manufactured in the Yamanaka region of Ishikawa prefecture, which specializes in lathe processing. The brush marks on the prospective part represent the profoundness of the lacquer ware. Vermillion and black are used for lacquer. These unique colours can be considered the most characteristic colours of Japan, having been inspired by the Japanese climate.
