Reminiscence - Vase No.39

Sale price¥10,890

When Reminiscence was first released in 2003, the collection featured 39 different glasses, which were produced by using old moulds from a historical glass factory. The moulds were originally used for large flower vases with a classic form produced for export to the U.S. and European countries in the 1960s. At the time, colourful opaque glass was used to decorate the vase by itself instead of flowers being put in the vase. The mould-blown glass is made by cutting off the unnecessary upper part after blowing to create the mouth of the glassware. Through changes in the cut position of the mouth, the Reminiscence collection was created in an effort to reconfigure the old shape while preserving its unique sense. By cutting the glass where the body’s diameter is wider, glassware with a larger mouth than the original shape can be created. Changing the height by a mere few centimetres can give a completely different impression to the flower vase, creating an organic outline.

Demand for domestic mould-blown glass has declined in recent years. The glass factory that produced the Reminiscence collection decided to turn off the fire in the kiln for large products. Today, two types of flower vases designed by Time & Style in 2003 are available for purchase.
